State Launches Sober Driving Partnership For St. Patrickʼs Day

GOHS and TEAM Georgia Warning Holiday Revelers

Who: Governorʼs Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), TEAM Georgia

What: To help combat drunk driving crashes and fatalities on St. Patrickʼs Day weekend, the Governorʼs Office of Highway Safety has partnered with TEAM Georgia to help holiday revelers in Atlanta ensure they have a safe and sober ride home on St. Patrickʼs Day. Interviews will be available with GOHS and TEAM Georgia leaders, as well as a victim speaker who lost a family member to a drunk driver. The “Drive Sober, Georgia” smartphone application will also be demonstrated.

When: Wednesday, March 13th, 10:30AM

Where: Meehanʼs Public House-Atlantic Station (Atlantic Station parking is very convenient on P1, one level below Meehanʼs at Stairway/Escalator #7. Parking is free for 2 hours.)

Why: More than 700 people were killed nationwide in crashes involving a drunk driver during the St. Patrickʼs Day holiday from 2006 to 2010. In Georgia, resources such as the “Drive Sober, Georgia” smartphone application are available to help impaired partygoers make sure they have a sober ride home.
