TEAM Georgia to remember Captain Herb at the Georgia Dome
By Lauren M. Johnson
TEAM Georgia, an alliance of professionals that promotes highway and waterway safety, announces a new tribute at the Georgia Dome: “Captain Herb Emory Designated Driver Booth.”
TEAM Georgia designated driver booths are located at many of Atlanta’s arena and entertainment venues including The Georgia Dome, Phillips Arena and Turner Field. The booths are manned by trained volunteers to encourage fans, and event attenders, to use a designated driver. Over 450,000 individuals have registered as DD’s with the program as well as received information about impaired driving and Georgia’s DUI laws. Now, Captain Herb will be remembered in the same context of safety.
TEAM Georgia Chairman Ron Fennel said, “Captain Herb Emory worked tirelessly every day to give back to the Atlanta community and make it a better place to live, work and play. It is more than appropriate that TEAM Georgia formally name a designated driver booth at the Georgia Dome in his honor.”
The booth will be sponsored by Mr. Allan Vigil, Dealer Principal of Allan Vigil Ford Lincoln of Morrow and CFO of Allan Vigil Ford of Fayetteville. Vigil was a personal friend of Emory and strongly endorsed the creation of this measure in his honor.
“Being involved in the automobile industry for the majority of my life, I understand both the joys of driving and the serious responsibility that comes along with it,” says Allan Vigil. “We are proud to support a program that will help empower individuals to make smart driving decisions.”
Captain Herb Emory was a founding board member for TEAM Georgia and served as such from 1985 to his passing earlier this year.
Fennel said, “We hope through this action, his tireless community service will live on and make our community’s roads a safer place for everyone.”
