Team Georgia's Safe Boating Campaign Winner

David Hynes of Smyrna is a veteran of Lake Jackson, where his family has had property since 1955. Haynes has just built a house there so he should have plenty of occasions to break out the boombox/cooler! In fact, when he was picking up his prize he was already busy coordinating his next party at the lake.

On receiving his prize, the longtime Lake Jackson boater said he wanted to emphasize the importance of safe boating. "There are more people on the lake than there have ever been," Haynes said. "It's more important than ever for people to enjoy boating responsibly, to be aware of their surroundings and behavior, so that we can all share in the fun of Georgia's waterways."

Team Georgia's Safe Boating Campaign

2010 TEAM Georgia Safe Boating Campaign launch, Allatoona Landing, Lake Allatoona. L to R: Col. Homer Bryson, Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division; Dan Foster, Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division; Susan Cummings, US Coast Guard Auxiliary; Bonnie Moret, TEAM Georgia; Jim Farley, US Coast Guard Auxiliary; Ross Kist, US Coast Guard Auxiliary; Sgt. Mike Barr, Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division.

Get Onboard - Right now, over 300,000 Georgia boat owners are preparing to cast-off for a summer of fun on the water. For almost a decade, they've been taking TEAM Georgia afloat with them through the TEAM Georgia Safe Boating program. Last year there were 147 boating accidents and 19 boating accident related fatalities in Georgia and DNR Conservation Rangers made 187 boating under the influence arrests.

In partnership with Georgia Department of Natural Resources, TEAM Georgia reminds boaters to take the rules of the road afloat - designate a skipper, watch your speed and know Georgia's boating laws. It's time to make a bigger splash.

Here's How it Works

Georgia boaters are encouraged to be the Designated Skipper by taking the safe boating pledge. Pledge forms are available at participating Anheuser-Busch retailers, or you can download the pledge form here. Everyone taking the pledge will be registered to win a grand prize. The grand prize drawing will be held on September 10, 2010.

Thank you for being the Designated Skipper! The TEAM Georgia Safe Boating Campaign is sponsored by Anheuser-Busch wholesalers: Atlanta Beverage, Dender Distributing, Eagle Rock Distributing and Leon Farmer Company.
